I’m sorry, but the m-vave fm-1 was poorly boxed with nothing to protect the top controls. the package was shipped in a mailing bag with no protection. the box really suffered some pretty bad damage to the point where knobs punctured the white bag inside the box, and the corners and edges of the box was smashed in. luckily the synth appears to been unscathed by the poor shipping materials. at least pad the box with foam plastic wrapping to prevent damage.

Super interesting little synth. this is an fm synth, like the legendary yamaha dx7. this is much easier to edit, however. four knobs change function depending on the screen. speaking of the screen…. it’s very nice to have and plenty bright. the built in fx are a nice bonus. i need to hook it up to my midi setup, but i have been enjoying the built in speaker. for less than $70 this is an obvious synth to recommend. didn’t even mention the size! it’s barely bigger than a power bank!

For $50 (after coupon), i really can’t complain. this thing is super portable and the build quality is not bad at all, even better than i expected. it has rechargeable battery, which is awesome, although i haven’t really tested how long it lasts yet. there is a built in speaker, and i gotta say, it is surprisingly usable for just messing around on the couch. can you get an fm synth app on your phone for less?? of course. but if you enjoy twisting knobs and love hardware synths, i think it’s worth it for sure. it also has an arpeggiator, sequencer, and 6 effects. they are all pretty bare bones (the sequencer especially), but i wouldn’t expect a device at this price to even have all those features.

I’m impressed with this little synth. for this price category it really punches above its weight. the interface is pretty easy. it would be great if it were a little more real-time performance friendly but overall i think this little guy is a powerhouse in a very reasonably priced package. build quality is very good. preset sounds are quite nice. want to get creative at the coffee shop? add this 👍🏼
