I like this solid built and water resistant radio. Maximum transmitting power is 10w, display id bw and clearly visible under direct sunlight. This device is good for fishermen and hunters. Drawback: little bit heavy and bulky. Anyway, deserves 5 stars.

I previously owned a tyt uv98, but that radio had a known issue: its transmissions interfered with other frequencies within a 0.250 mhz range. This problem does not occur on the rt89, thanks to its upgraded bk4819 chip, which replaces the older bk4815 found in the uv98 and other radtel devices. The rt89 also stands out for its sturdy, well-built construction. It includes a noise-canceling function that effectively reduces background noise, though it slightly dims the audio. Overall, it’s a solid product, and if you’re currently using a baofeng uv-5r, the rt89 is definitely worth trying.
